Blues Singer

Deitra Farr is one of Chicago ’s top blues vocalists. Fiery, energetic, and soul-stirring describes this woman, who has over the years been nominated for Traditional Female Blues artist of the year, Female Blues Artist of the year, the British Blues Connection Awards, and the Les Trophees France Blues awards. In 2015 Deitra was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame.  In 2016 the National Southern Soul Foundation gave Deitra "The Most Popular Blues Artist Award". In 2017 Deitra was presented Jus Blues Music Foundation's "Koko Taylor Queen of the Blues Award". Deitra was born in Chicago and began her singing career with local soul bands, before focusing on the blues. She has been a fixture at all of the major Chicago blues clubs ever since. Deitra recorded two CDs as the lead singer with the all-star group Mississippi Heat and, after recording on eight CD projects with others, recorded two solo CDs, “The Search is Over” and “Let it Go!” A graduate of Chicago’s Columbia College, Deitra is also a published writer, poet, songwriter, and painter. She has represented the Chicago Tourism Bureau has been a featured performer on dozens of international tours. Deitra is currently a member of the all- star blues group “Chicago Wind”, along with harmonica great Matthew Skoller and guitar master Tom Holland! Deitra’s Website:
