Chicago Blues Bootcamp was held May 29 – June 2, 2022 in downtown Chicago, offering Blues musicians from across the country a chance to come together to learn directly from Chicago Blues Masters. Today we focus on the students and their time in the Chicago Blues spotlight…
The week was capped off at Rosa’s Lounge where proprietor Tony Mangiullo rolled out the red carpet for student ensembles to perform on the historic stage with blues veteran Marty Binder on drums. Instructors in attendance to support students, Stroger, Flynn and Burgin, joined Binder on an impromptu short set.
Bootcamp director Scott Weil was glad to get live operations back after 2 years of remote streaming. “Up-close contact with these great blues artists is the invaluable experience we offer. Now past the pandemic, we’re back as intended; live and in-person.”
Chicago Blues Bootcamps take place annually, designed for the week leading up to the Chicago Blues Festival. For info on future camps and more: chicagobluesnetwork.com.
